═══ 1. About Racer for OS/2 ═══ Racer for OS/2 Version 1.3 September 25th, 1996, by Antonino Iannella This is a prototype for an OS/2 game idea of mine. I got the idea from a program in a magazine printed about ten years ago. The original program was written in BASIC (from Microsoft, uugh!) for the Tandy TRS-80. I've always liked it's concept. The aim is to keep your car away from the white lines; the roadside. Racer is simply a text-based car on a road, so it moves quite fast. The text symbol in the middle is your 'car'. (Sorry about it being a long, white streak.) Press the left or right arrow keys to make it move left or right. pauses it. Press 'q' at any time to stop. Crashing the car into the sides also ends the ride. In this version, after a crash the user is prompted to drive again by entering 'Y' (or pressing Enter). Press 'N' to quit. The distance travelled after each drive is displayed. Many people have requested that I slow the game down (you know the type...those who own a Pentium 2000MHz with gazillion MB of RAM... ) My long-term plan for this 'piКce de resistance' is to port it to the PM shell and turn it into a graphics-based action extravaganza, like a video arcade game. ═══ 1.1. How to compile the source ═══ The source code, RACER.C and RACER.DEF are in the SRC subdirectory. I compiled Racer with EMX/GCC, so one may need the EMX Runtime Library to use the executable code. Compile by entering gcc -Zomf -Zsys -o racer.exe racer.c racer.def The source code is provided so others may compile it themselves, or use it freely as long as I am acknowledged and informed about it. Bill Gates, all Microsoft employees and their families must each pay me AUD$1M if they would like to register. ═══ 2.
